Middle-class 'glass-floor' block on social mobility

A study by the Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission has found that bright children from poor backgrounds are not getting highly paid jobs because of less able middle-class children.

The group said a so-called "glass floor" had been created by better-off families, which stops their children falling down the social scale.
